Welcome!
My name is Natha and this is my personal blog. I’m a queer young adult coming from Indonesia. I formally studied mathematics, but my passion has always been on its application in social and environmental challenges. I spent a year studying Earth system physics–all about our climate–in Italy. Now I am an aspiring graduate student loosely on the topics of climate change and its impact.
Outside of my study and research, I love to run, consume any queer media, write down my thoughts, and draw things in nature.
Names…
Legally, my first name is Nathasya. Professionally, I like to sign off with Natha to keep it close to my legal name. Among good friends, I often keep it simple as Nata–a habit since high school.
Talking about names, I love to name-drop people in my life within my journals. If you see your name, know that I wrote it tenderly as I am grateful to have you in my life. If for whatever reason you wish that your name or pictures to be omitted from this site, let me know personally too.
On pronouns
My preferred pronouns are they/them and I am a proud nonbinary person. This is an integral part of myself, something that I have pondered over and over until now. I understand that this might sound unfamiliar by some people who are rarely exposed to queer media and people. For Indonesian visitors who want to understand more about nonbinary identity, I suggest you to read this wonderful comic by local queer people. Find also its English translation here.
Quoting the mentioned comic: “I am both trans and nonbinary, and I know that I am real.”
I am not completely happy about this, but I often present myself with they/she pronouns in professional setting. In my field and experience, we rarely clarify our pronouns and I don’t mind the assumption.
About this blog
I have been journalling and drawing botanical art since high school. I have always wanted to make a sanctuary to all my pieces and this blog is a manifestation of it.
Previously, I have tried Instagram and different writing sites, like Medium and Substack, so you might still find traces of me there. However, nothing feels right. Hopefully, I feel content by building this site on my own.
